Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
